We know - it's summer, but not all things need to be smoldering! Take a vacation from your usual steamy cup of coffee and try something a little cooler.  There are SO many ways to make a delicious cup of iced coffee - and plenty of bad ones, too. Check out some of our best "do's" and "don'ts" to ensure your summer coffee game is at 100%.

DO start with high quality coffee beans and filtered water!
Two of the most important things about making a perfect cup of coffee are the quality and flavor of the beans and the water. At Bones, all of our coffee is expertly sourced and roasted fresh daily for the best cup of coffee possible!

DO experiment with cold brew!
Cold Brew is the darling of the iced coffee world and will quickly rack up quite the bill if you're picking it up at the local coffee shop every day. But guess what? You CAN make the perfect cup of cold brew at home! The slow process of cold brewing makes an incredibly smooth, concentrated cup of coffee that can be totally customized to your tastes. With so many cold brew methods on the market, it can be overwhelming to start! We picked our favorite cold brew maker and provided instructions from our very own roaster on how to make the perfect cup! Check it out here!

DO try flavored coffee!
If you want to spice things up, trade your usual dark roast for an exciting new flavor. Salty Siren, Coconut Rum and White Russian are all customer favorites for a delicious cup of iced coffee! Build your own delicious sample pack here.

DO try espresso!
Starting with espresso is a simple way to elevate your homemade iced coffee. In contrast to cold brew, this espresso method is made hot and poured over ice. This works perfectly because espresso is highly concentrated, so the melted ice adjusts the intensity of the brew to your taste. If you don't have an espresso machine, you can make espresso with other methods like a stovetop moka pot or an Aeropress.

DO grab your cocktail shaker!
Become your own personal barista and put a fun spin on things! Simply pour in your cold brew (or espresso!) over ice, add milk or water and whatever you'd like to sweeten your coffee! Tyler, a Bones Coffee super-hero, loves to mix S'Morey Time with Chocolate Milk! Try shaking that with some ice! When you're done, throw it into one of our awesome stainless tumblers!

DO break out your ice cube tray!
Freeze your favorite milky beverage or extra coffee in ice cube trays and add them to your cold brew. This prevents your coffee from getting watered down, and will allow a slow release of delightful flavor. Your cup will just keep getting better! Alternatively, just grab one of our awesome stainless tumblers to keep your iced coffee cold for hours!

DO find fun ways to sweeten your cup!
Get creative! Try sweetening your cold brewed Maple Bacon with pure maple syrup, or one of our single origins with a little local honey! You can also use agave syrup, flavored syrups, or delicious gourmet chocolate sauces to create your own signature drink.  Sugar not on the menu? Try a little monk fruit, stevia or sugar free syrup to create a delightful keto friendly drink! Whatever you do - don't get bored with basic, boring white sugar... mix it up!

DON'T pour freshly brewed hot coffee over ice
This is an iced coffee sin - if it's what you've been doing so far, don't worry! We won't tell. The big problem with this method is that you're simply diluting your perfectly brewed hot coffee - which makes for a watery, unremarkable cup that does little to fulfil your caffeine needs.

DON'T just refridgerate your leftover hot coffee
If you pop your drip coffee in the fridge after using it, yes - it will get cold. But it still won't have the desired smoothness and richness of a properly brewed iced coffee.

At Bones, we want you to FALL IN LOVE with your coffee each and every morning. We want you to go to sleep at night DREAMING about that perfectly brewed, flavorful drink that will jumpstart your morning and fuel you throughout your day. That's why we want to teach you how to elevate your coffee no matter HOW you drink it. Hot or cold, simple shots or very personalized speciality concoctions. Use these tips to make it delicious and make it YOU. Need a cool tumbler to hold your delicious iced coffee in? Get one below, you won't regret it!
